A little-known breed…

The Western White Pig is a little-known breed subject to a conservation program and has its origins in Haut Anjou. It is the result of the cross between the Norman pig and the Craonnais pig, which has now disappeared, and is the worthy descendant of the Celtic pigs. Unsuitable for life in buildings and with very slow growth, this distinctive breed was abandoned in the 1970s in favor of more productive breeds.

It is distinguished by its white coat, its large ears falling over its eyes, its two rosettes on its back and its very great maternal qualities.

Highly appreciated for its taste qualities both in butchery and in cooked or dried charcuterie, Western White Pork will delight lovers of good food!

Western White Pork is at the origin of the creation of Paris ham or traditional rillettes. It is the only French pig whose fat contains polyunsaturated fatty acids, very rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6.

Currently there are less than 30 breeders in France working to save it.
