CHÂTEAU MAUCAILLOU

Château Maucaillou owes its name to the cadastral designation of the land on which it was built in 1875. Its vineyards are part of one of the oldest terroirs in the Médoc. It occupies a privileged position between Margaux and Saint-Julien, in the commune of Moulis, right in the geographical centre of the Haut-Médoc, and covers 90 hectares planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Philippe Dourthe's three children have now taken over the running of the family estate from Pascal. Vinification is carried out with the utmost care in a luxurious vat room, equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The wines of Château Maucaillou have a beautiful colour, are rich in tannins, and develop a subtle, fruity aromatic power. Generous and full-bodied, they are also long on the palate and have good ageing potential.

Château Maucaillou is a gastronomic wine, best enjoyed with lamb, game or mature cheeses. It has aromas of black fruit (morello cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant in particular), mocha and empyreumatic notes. The palate is full and unctuous, with ripe, supple tannins. The wine has good length.
