Chicken shawarma, like shawarma in general, has origins in the Middle East. It is a method of cooking meat of Turkish origin that has spread throughout the region and beyond. The word "shawarma" itself is derived from the Turkish word "çevirme", meaning "to turn" or "to turn around".
Traditional shawarma is prepared by stacking slices of meat (chicken, lamb, beef, or sometimes a combination thereof) on a rotating vertical spit. The meat is usually seasoned with spices like cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, and others. While cooking, the spit rotates slowly, allowing the meat to cook evenly while retaining its juices and flavor.
Shawarma is often served in pita bread or a pancake, accompanied by fresh vegetables, sauces (such as tahini or garlic sauce), and sometimes pickles or pickles. It is popular in many Middle Eastern countries, Turkey, Greece, and has also gained popularity in other parts of the world.
The chicken version of shawarma is particularly loved for its delicious flavor and tender texture, making it a popular choice among Middle Eastern food lovers.
