Coconut Crab Curry is a flavorful dish that combines the rich flavors of crab with the sweetness and creaminess of coconut milk. Here is a simple recipe to prepare a delicious crab curry:
Ingredients :
1.5 kg crabs, cleaned and cut into pieces
1 can (400 ml) coconut milk
2 onions, chopped
3 cloves of garlic, minced
1 inch ginger, grated
2 tomatoes, chopped
2 tablespoons curry paste (red or green, depending on your preference)
1 tablespoon curry powder
1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
1 teaspoon of powdered coriander
1 teaspoon of cumin powder
1 teaspoon of paprika
1-2 red chili peppers, to taste (optional, for extra heat)
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions :
Preparation of ingredients:
Clean the crabs and cut them into pieces. If you have crab legs, break them to make eating easier.
Chop the onions, slice the garlic, grate the ginger and chop the tomatoes.
Cooking the curry:
In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté them until translucent.
Add the garlic, ginger, tomatoes and red peppers (if using). Cook for a few minutes until the tomatoes are softened.
Adding spices:
Add the curry paste, curry powder, turmeric, coriander, cumin, paprika, salt and pepper. Mix well to coat the spice ingredients.
Cooking the crab:
Add the crab pieces to the pan and mix them with the spices.
Pour the coconut milk into the saucepan, mix well, then reduce the heat to medium low. Cover the pot and simmer for about 20 to 25 minutes, until the crab is cooked through and the flavors are well blended.
Finishing and service:
Adjust the seasoning according to your preferences.
Sprinkle with chopped fresh cilantro before serving.
Serve the coconut milk crab curry with rice.
