"Arancini" are fried rice balls originating from Italy, and when added to a burger, they bring a unique and delicious twist to this classic dish. Here's a recipe for an original burger with arancini.

Ingredients:

For the arancini:

  • 2 cups of cooked (cooled) Arborio rice
  • 1 cup of tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup of grated mozzarella cheese
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs (for coating)
  • Frying oil

For the burgers:

  • Burger buns
  • Ground beef patties (or a beef/pork mix)
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Burger sauce (mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard)
  • Cheese (optional)

Instructions:

Prepare the arancini:

  1. In a large bowl, mix the cooked rice with the tomato sauce, Parmesan, mozzarella, salt, and pepper.
  2. Take a portion of this mixture and form arancini balls.
  3. Roll each ball in flour, then in beaten eggs, and finally in breadcrumbs to coat.
  4. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the arancini until golden.
  5. Remove them and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.

Prepare the burgers:

  1. Cook the patties according to your preference (in a pan, on the grill, etc.).
  2. Toast the burger buns.
  3. On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, a slice of tomato, the beef patty, and add one or more arancini balls.

  5. Close the burger with the other half of the bun.
